Professional guidance one-on-one from a highly commended editor and novelist,

who will help you make your book as good as it can be

Are you working on a manuscript and feel that you would benefit from having a published author oversee the process and help you make it the best you can be? Following on from the success of our manuscript assessment service, Authoright is excited to offer a full mentoring service to guide you through the process.

Our inhouse writer and editor, Peter Salmon, who has spent more then 20 years in the book trade as author, bookseller, publisher and editor, will take you through all the steps – from the first sentence, to the difficult middle, to preparing for publication. His open and generous style is perfect for any level of experience, from beginner and beyond, and across all genres and levels of ambition.

As part of our twelve month mentoring scheme you will receive:

1. An opportunity to submit up to 80,000 words across the year

2. An initial one-to-one session with Peter by Skype of fact-to-face to discuss your work and your ambitions

3. A further five opportunities across the year to submit your manuscript and get feedback via email

4. A final manuscript assessment, either at the completion of the mentoring, or within six months, to help you prepare it for an agent or a publisher.

You will also receive a discount on some of our other services, such as publication.

The mentoring will be tailored to suit your needs, and Peter is happy to work around other commitments to make sure that you are able to meet that most important of all tasks for a writer – finding time to write!

'Reminiscent of Philip Roth's Everyman. But it's much, much funnier' — Sydney Morning Herald

Part final-hour confession and part memoir... funny [and] imaginative — Daily Express

It is witty, deliciously nasty, highly intelligent, and has a broad scope, from 19th-century Europe to America in the 1970s. One of the most authoritative novels I've read. — The Guardian

It's been a while since I read a first novel that felt as universally accomplished as Peter Salmon's The Coffee Story. World, voice, humour, everything is in place. — New Statesman
