MARKETING & PUBLICITY

Publicity Campaigns

With our Publicist book marketing campaigns, our aim is to gain media coverage for our authors and their books; interviews, feature stories and reviews in print media like newspapers, magazines and supplements; in broadcast media on radio, television and podcasts; and online media through websites and blogs. Our Publicist services are our most popular, giving authors a comprehensive yet bespoke marketing and publicity campaign that targets every relevant opportunity for our authors, from mainstream national media all the way through to niche, genre-specific media outlets.

At Authoright a complaint that we hear all the time from authors is with regards to marketing and publicity - or the lack thereof. Whether the author is using a self publishing platform or has a deal with a traditional publisher, invariably there's little or no marketing provided. We work with authors of all kinds; new, unknown, traditionally published, indue, hybrid and so on.

There are three different types of Publicist campaign to choose from; the UK Publicist, the US Publicist and the Atlantic Publicist. Every author client will receive a personal book marketing and publicity consultant.

The book marketing and publicity consultant works with each author over approximately an 8-week period. Unlike other book PR companies and self publishing service providers, we have a lot of personal contact with our author clients, something which we know is a really important feature, and one which our authors really value. We also believe it’s critical in order to do a good job on your behalf.

The national or transatlantic book marketing campaign will begin with a meeting between the author and one of Authoright’s dedicated marketing and publicist experts, during which they will find out everything that could be relevant to the promotion of the author’s book – who they are, what their book is about, why they write, and so on – while using their experience of working with the media and knowing instinctively what journalists want to see from any potential story, to identify the angles in the book that should be highlighted and pitched to the media. It goes without saying that some books naturally have more to work with than others, but the publicist will endeavour to tease out the most engaging aspects of each and every story and its author.

In consultation with the author, the publicist will draft a press release for their book and research the media lists for use in the campaign. As well as circulating the release to Authoright’s primary media lists, they will research a targeted list of much more specific and focused contacts – these may pertain to the genre of the book, the personal background of the author, or any other news angles offered by the author and their book, in order to produce a ‘best fit’ list of media contacts. TV, radio, magazines, newspapers and online media will be included in these lists. Authoright’s publicist will then spend approximately six weeks relentlessly pitching the author and their book to the media, working to stimulate interest in both, and to secure articles, interviews and reviews on the author’s behalf. We deal with the details, keeping the author updated throughout the campaigns, so that they have a clear understanding of the work being undertaken in our promotional activities. We pride ourselves on being diligent, creative and tireless in our efforts to engage the media and potential book buyers with our authors’ books.

AUTHOR WEBSITES

AUTHOR WEBSITES

A website is an author’s shop front. From here, you’re promoting your brand, your genre, your book and you to the reading, book buying public. Your website is a crucial platform, regardless of how simple or complex you make it. Authors are often worried about the technical side of developing a website, but actually, a good author website shouldn’t be overly complicated. If anything, it should be a sleek, straightforward online business card, a platform that captures your identity as an author, drawing attention to your writing and your activities – whether it’s a launch, a media appearance, a review or a blog post.

It’s critical that any author can manage their own website once it’s been designed; this not only helps to reduce costs – you don’t want to be paying expensive maintenance charges to a developer – and enables the author to really take control of their platform, and their interactions with readers. If you want to blog regularly, great, then we’ll make sure you can do so with ease. Equally if you just want a site that functions as an attractive promotional tool for your book, then we can work with that reduced specification in mind.

Don’t forget, the media, bloggers, reviewers and book buyers will often head to your website as their first port of call when looking for more information about you and your work. Every author wants to appear professional, to showcase their unique author brand, to engage with visitors through attractive and contemporary online design, and to inspire visitors to buy your book.

KEEP IT SIMPLE, ELEGANT AND ON BRAND.

BLOG TOURS

BLOG TOURS

We have a specialist book blog colleague, who will try to arrange a blog tour for our authors as part of their media campaign. This is particularly relevant for fiction titles, as well as some non-fiction books. These can be brilliant for getting nice reviews and spreading news about a book at a grassroots level. Bloggers are a really important part of the book world today. We view them just like journalists and we are lucky to have a great relationship with many bloggers around the world. As part of any blog tour that we arrange, we will design tour banners that we and you can share on social media or on your website. Such as those below.
